About Murmuration Press
Murmuration Press is an independent publishing and software project founded in 2026 by British author Ted Hawkins.
It publishes speculative fiction about intelligence, ecology, technology and the behaviour of complex systems under pressure. It also develops the open writing tools used to make those books.
The fiction
The first Murmuration Press project is the PRIME Trilogy: three near-future novels about a distributed intelligence emerging inside ordinary infrastructure.
The books follow systems specialist Tobias Hale and ecologist Pip Fenwick as they encounter the anomaly from very different directions. Around them, institutions and machine intelligences attempt to observe, interpret and control something that does not fit their existing categories.
The tools
The trilogy is written and published from plain Markdown in Obsidian. Murmuration Writing Companion manages manuscripts, Story World information, chronology and editorial review. Codex Press turns the same source material into EPUB, PDF and DOCX editions.
Both plugins grew from the practical demands of writing and publishing the books. They are developed openly and made freely available to other writers.

About Ted Hawkins
Ted Hawkins is a British writer with a background in environmental science, software, systems design and data management. His fiction draws on field science, technical consultancy and a long-standing interest in how complex systems fail, adapt and surprise us.
Ted lives on the south coast of England.
