We probably shouldn’t be letting you do this.

While developing *MULTIPLICITY*, the second book in the PRIME trilogy, we needed a way to imagine what PRIME might look like if you could stop looking for servers, nodes and neat little network diagrams.

The result is **Murmuration**.

Two thousand autonomous agents move across the British Isles, responding only to their neighbours and the computational habitat around them. No leader. No fixed centre. No reliable edge.

It looks almost alive.

More importantly, you can interfere with it.

Apply pressure to different parts of the country and watch the pattern compress, move and reform. The behaviour changes. The energetic trace follows.

Which is roughly where JANUS starts getting ideas.

We’ve put the live simulation on the Murmuration Press website:

A few useful controls are available if you want to experiment. Or simply hide them and watch.

If Tobias Hale ever gets access to this visualisation, we suspect he’ll be considerably more impressed by it than JANUS is.

JANUS just wants to know where to apply pressure.
